The world is shocked by China’s plans to deploy a large unmanned AI Submarine
China plans to bolster its navy with massive AI-controlled unmanned submarines by the early 2020s to cement its advantage in the South China Sea and western Pacific.
Beijing plans to deploy autonomous submarines that can be used not only to inspect the waters, but also to conduct hostilities or as a kamikaze. The program is managed by the Shenyang Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The submarines were named XLUUV and they will have a huge size (much larger than existing ships), powerful weapons and additional systems. There will be no crew on board, and the artificial intelligence will solve all the tasks on its own. He will be able to identify enemies, maneuver and return after completing a mission.
The main advantage will be the low cost of production, since there will be no need to install life support systems for the crew on ships. This will allow you to fearlessly perform tasks, which will become a problem for enemies, but also increase their vulnerability and make it impossible to repair in water. Government plans to deploy unmanned submarines in early 2020s.
In recent years, China has been focusing not on numbers, but on the level of technology in the military question. They do not create «sleeping» missiles, and are introducing active combat systems. Their development stimulates increased tension between China and the United States, which accumulate mutual claims in the zones of influence in the South China Sea and near Taiwan..
Recall that the Chinese have created a quantum radar that detects stealth aircraft.
